“Tell me the facts and I’ll learn. Tell me the truth and I’ll believe. But tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever”
At Dreaming Child Preschool, we believe stories are the heartbeat of learning. Storytelling isn’t just fun—it changes how children think, feel and remember.
We’re proud to use a story-based curriculum where math, language, science, art and motor skills all connect to engaging narratives. Because, when children hear a story, their whole brain lights up — they imagine, they feel, they remember. According to the organisation BookTrust, stories in early childhood are “a key way in which children … begin to understand the world around them and represent and communicate their own ideas, knowledge and feelings.”
Why Stories Make Learning Stick
- When a child listens to a story, they’re not just hearing words—they’re experiencing Science shows that hearing about walking on icy snow can activate the same brain areas as actually doing it.
- Research in early childhood education shows storytelling and story-acting enrich language, literacy and classroom culture.
- At Dreaming Child Preschool we link each lesson to a story so children can recall concepts more naturally and joyfully.

Watch & Learn
We found a beautiful film by Jan Dubiel (specialist in early years education) about how stories enhance teaching across the curriculum. Please watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ9mVVgTGVU
A Message to Parents & Educators
